News Round-Up: Saturday 21st May 2011

MOVIES

  • There’s a movie coming out called “The Hauntrepeneur”… The name alone makes me want to kill it with fire. It’s about a family who moves into a haunted house or something. Anyway, it’s Really original…
  • Harvey Weinstein spoke to MTV (Why wouldn’t he!?) and told them that Scream 4 has been doing well around the world, money-wise, so he’s not ruling out a fifth movie in the slasher series.
  • And so it begins, the countdown to The Dark Knight Rises has begun, with this pick of Tom Hardy as Bane being released today thanks to some clever internet folk who decrypted an audio file or something, either way, we get this awesome pic!

GAMES

  • Yo, PSN’s back. You just can’t use the store yet and Sony have already found a problem with their “upgraded” security (It was possible to exploit the password reset.) Sigh.
  • L.A. Noire’s out now. Review should be up by Saturday, but here’s a sneak-peek: You should totally go buy L.A. Noire.
  • Sony put out some artwork for a game, not sure what game it’s exactly for, but I’m sure if we all put our heads together we’ll figure it out.

MUSIC

  • Pete Doherty, Lead Singer of The Libertines, was sentenced to six months in prison yesterday after pleading guilty to having drugs on him in March when he was arrested in connection with the drug related death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead. Doherty denies having any relation to the death.
  • Mick Jagger has birthed another one of those new-fangled “Supergroups” that the kids love so much. This new group contains such musically inclined people as Joss Stone, Damian Marley, Dave Stewart and… A.R. RAHMAN!? Yes, the guy who did the soundtrack for Danny Boyle’s last two movies. Look for an album from the group, tentatively titled Super Heavy, sometime soon.
